Just another work day

I went to work late after being a little under the weather in the night. As the day wore on I felt better, so I took a walk to find a laundromat and a cash machine that would give me money.

Someone in the office pointed me to a nearby laundromat, where a man told me -- in French, but with hand gestures I could interpet -- that I had to put money into a machine and get a token to run the washer. Later, when that man had gone, a younger man came in and started to ask me a question in French. I told him I didn't understand, and we switched to English. He wanted to know if he could put an extra token into the machine and get money back; the answer appeared to be no, but we both found that out experimentally.

The weather changed back from rainy to half-sunny this afternoon, but it's now in the low 50's instead of the mid- to high 60's, as it had been for the first week I was here. Leaves are falling faster now ... but the color change is nothing like home.
